Our story traces back to over two decades ago when Levi’s parents (Mr and Mrs Zakaria) added to aggregating agricultural commodities into their farming activities in Ghana, purposely to cater for their family. Their simple yet strategic approach of purchasing and holding agricultural commodities, such as rice, black-eye beans, soybeans, and shea nuts, until market prices increased, laid the foundation for my inspiration and interest in agribusiness. Growing up Levi helped his parents at the farm and their venture which gave him the opportunity where he gain valuable experience in farming, sourcing agricultural commodities, and agribusiness. His interest in agriculture grew as he grew older which eventually inspired his specialization in International Food Business and the establishment of Salma AgroTrade.After studying and gaining professional experience in Ghana, Canada, and the Netherlands, Levi founded Salma AgroTrade, a Netherlands-registered agricultural importing and trading company. Complementing this is Salma Agro Trade Ltd, our farming subsidiary based in Northern Ghana which Levi co-founded with his father (Rev Zakaria) to take his parents’ agricultural journey to the next level. From farming to cater for a family to making a significant impact on the lives of families and the agribusiness sector. on a global scale through innovation, partnerships, and sustainability.
